# Bluetooth and VoIP

> Use of mobile phones and VoIP applications

## Using with Mobile Phones (Bluetooth)

To operate a phone on the console, it must be [paired with the Bluetooth device](/es/DX816/816-telco) TELCO.

### Quick Reconnection

1. Ensure the **TELCO** fader is in **CUE** (closed) position.
2. **Enable Bluetooth on console:** Hold **BLUETOOTH for 5 seconds** until **CELL PHONE** lights blue. The button will blink with slow pulse.

<Warning>
  The Bluetooth module receives power from **USB-1 or USB-2** channels.\
  If neither is connected to a PC, use an **external USB power source** (standard charger) with the supplied cable.
</Warning>

3. Activate Bluetooth on mobile device → connection restores automatically.
4. Incoming calls may be answered either from the mobile or via **BLUETOOTH** on the console.

### Incoming Call (Mobile)

* Rings on cellphone and **CUE** (TELCO closed). **CELL PHONE** flashes blue.
* Answer with **short press on BLUETOOTH** (or from mobile screen).
* **Monitor conversation:** With fader at **CUE**, call is heard through **CUE**.
* **Press TALK** to speak. Button latches; press again to stop talking.
* **HOLD**: Move fader to HOLD zone, caller hears program but isn't broadcast.
* **ON-AIR**: Raise fader to achieve proper level.

  During conferences between **cellphone** and **landline/VoIP**, some **echo** may occur in the remote journalist's return feed. **Does not** go on-air.
</Info>

### Ending the Communication

* **Short press BLUETOOTH** on the console, or disconnect from the phone.

### Return to Mobile

* On the mobile phone: exit **Headset/Bluetooth** mode by switching to **Speaker**.
* To return to the console: switch back to **Headset** mode (varies by phone model).

### Initiate Call from Mobile Phone

1. On the mobile device, disable Bluetooth to speak directly through the phone.
2. Establish the call.
3. To transfer to the console, switch to **Bluetooth/Headset** mode.
4. With the fader in the **HOLD** position, the mobile receives return feed from the console but remains off-air.
5. Raise the fader to bring the call on-air.
6. To terminate: **brief press of the BLUETOOTH button** or disconnect from the mobile.

  The call can also be established **without exiting** Bluetooth mode on the mobile, with the fader in **CUE** position and using **TALK** to converse from the console.
