## USB Port Connection

The **USB-1** and **USB-2** ports allow direct connection to the computer using **standard USB A/B cables**. They support USB 1.1, 2.0, or 3.0 ports.

Ensure you use **high-quality cables**. Poor-quality cables can cause USB connection drops during audio playback or intermittent failures.

It is recommended to place the computer close to the console, using cables of 2 to 3 meters in length. If extensions are used, do not exceed 4 meters.

<Warning>
  Before connecting USB to the computer, ensure both devices have **effective grounding** through their three-prong plugs. **Quick verification:**

  * Using a tester set to 25 V AC, measure between the PC chassis and the console chassis. The value should be **zero volts**.
  * Only then connect the USB plug.
  * If there is no grounding, the USB port may be damaged.
</Warning>

* The USB ports are compatible with **Windows© and Linux**.
* If both are connected to the same computer, **connect USB-1 first**.
* To use a single channel, always connect **USB-1**.

  <Danger>
    The **USB-2 port only works if USB-1 is connected and active**.
  </Danger>
* If two separate computers are connected, note that USB-2 will not function when the PC connected to USB-1 is powered off. For this reason, USB-1 is assigned to the on-air PC, which remains active 24 hours a day.

## Windows© Installation

<Steps>
  <Step>
    On Windows, the connection is Plug\&Play. The system automatically recognizes and installs the drivers. The port appears as **"USB Audio Device 1"** for both playback and recording.
  </Step>

  <Step>
    On the VU meter bridge, the **Digital IN/Out** indicator will show "4" (stereo input + output recognized).
  </Step>

  <Step>
    When connecting the second channel (USB-2), the indicator changes to "8" and the PC shows a second playback and recording device.
  </Step>

  <Step>
    The ports can be connected to the same computer or to two separate machines.
  </Step>

## PGM and REC Buses via USB

The USB connection allows sending two signal buses directly to the computer:

- **USB-1 / PGM**: Appears in Windows© as "USB Recording Device 1".
- **USB-2 / REC**: Appears in Windows© as "USB Recording Device 2".

No additional installation required. The devices automatically appear when connecting the USB input channels to the computer (or to two separate computers).

For recording usage details, see **Program Recording**.
